Meet Doctors Bird and Thornton
     
           
   

You are in experienced hands with Dr. Morris T. Bird and Dr. Robert S. Thornton. They have been practicing medicine in Orlando and Central Florida area for over 20 years. Since 1987, the doctors have concentrated solely on their Orlando area sleep disorders offices.

Not only do the doctors have an exceptional background, but their Center for Sleep Disorders is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. It is one of only two sleep centers in Orlando to be accredited in this way.

Dr. Bird earned his medical degree from Emory University, and completed his internship and residency, along with his postdoctoral training in neurology at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He also accomplished a NINDS special fellowship in pediatrics and pediatric neurology at Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Bird is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special competency in child neurology and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Bird is also a past chairman of the Department of Neurology at Florida Hospital and Winter Park Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Thornton earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his rotating internship at Tripler General Army Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. Following active duty in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the United States and Vietnam, Dr. Thornton completed his residency in neurology at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

Dr. Thornton is board-certified by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Thornton is also a past chairman of the Department of Neurology of Florida Hospital and a past member of the Board of Directors of Orange County Medical Society.
